However, they are subtle and often hidden, so you may not notice how frequently they appear on walls or floors in most buildings. What Makes a Good Door Stopper?
A good doorstop can prevent doors from hitting the wall, so choose a door stop based on the type of doors you have in your home. Solid stops are key if you have solid wood doors. Some door stops can also keep a door open using magnets or some other method.
Do People Still Use Door Stops?
Door stops can be mounted on the floor, wall, or hinge. Floor and wall stops are more visible, while a hinge pin stop is hidden.
Floor stops are typically solid, and may also be magnetized to not only stop the door, but hold it in place once it has been opened.
Wall stops are typically either springs mounted near the baseboard or solid stops either mounted near the baseboard or door handle. Some handle stops also include hooks to hold the door in place.
Hinge pin stops attach directly to the hinge and are innocuous. Make sure to find the right hinge pin for the brand of hinges you have in your home.
